Code Control Module (function 07)
The control module installed in the vehicle is coded. New control modules from the parts distribution center are uncoded and must be coded after being installed.
Coding is only possible if a dealership number is stored in the VAG1551 scan tool.
Test sequence
- Connect the VAG1551 Scan Tool (ST) and select the address word 03 "Brake Electronics". Refer to VAG1551 Scan Tool (ST), connecting and selecting functions .
- Check the control module version. Refer to Check Control Module Versions (function 01) and press → button.

NOTE:
- If the control module is incorrectly coded, the ABS warning light -K47- remains constantly lit. The red "Brake system malfunction" symbol (left arrow) lights up after ignition is switched on and 10 km/h or 2000 engine RPM has been reached.
- If the control module is uncoded (code 00000), the ABS warning light -K47- blinks once per second. The red "Brake system malfunction" symbol (left arrow) blinks after ignition is switched on and 10 km/h or 2000 engine RPM has been reached.
