Servomotor With Control Module

Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Torque Wrench V.A.G 1331
- Torque Wrench V.A.G 1332
- Bracket VW 540/2
- Thrust Piece 3253/6 qty. 2
- Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051B
Removing
-- Remove steering gear. Refer to STEERING GEAR .
-- Clean steering gear in area of servo motor with control module.
-- Clamp the steering gear as illustrated.
- VW 540/2
- 3253/6 (quantity: 2)
-- Rotate the steering into the straight position.
-- Remove hydraulic thrust piece. Refer to HYDRAULIC THRUST PIECE .
-- Disconnect connector from control module.
-- Press the button -a- in the direction of the -arrow- and then disconnect the connector.
-- Remove the bolts -1- and pry the servo motor with control module from the steering gear housing.
-- Clean sealing surfaces.
No seal remnants must enter steering gear housing when cleaning sealing surfaces.
Replace the steering gear if there is corrosion, damage or wear on the steering rack.
Installing
-- Pull a new sealing ring onto servo motor with control module.
Before installation, servomotor pinion must be coated with grease from the repair kit.
Do not use other grease under any circumstances.
-- Lubricate pinion.
-- Coat sealing surfaces -arrow- with CurilK2.
-- Insert the servo motor with control module into the steering gear housing and tighten the new bolts in a diagonal sequence.
-- Connect the sensor wire to the control module.
-- Install new hydraulic thrust piece. Refer to HYDRAULIC THRUST PIECE .
Replacement part set contains a new hydraulic thrust piece among other items.
-- Install steering gear. Refer to STEERING GEAR .
Perform a basic setting for the steering angle sensor -G85- using the vehicle diagnostic tester, after installing.
-- Perform basic setting.
-- Perform the adaptation and the basic setting for the power steering control module -J500- using the vehicle diagnostic tester.
Tightening specifications, refer to STEERING GEAR OVERVIEW, GENERATION I .
-- Perform vehicle alignment. Refer to WHEEL ALIGNMENT .
