Shift Mechanism Function Unit, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Remove the handle from the selector lever. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER HANDLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the frame with the Multimedia System Control Head -E380- -1-. Refer to Multimedia System Control Head -E380- INSTALLATION FRAME, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Disconnect the connector -1-.

-- Remove the noise insulation -2- from the shift housing.

-- Remove the front ashtray/front storage compartment. Refer to FRONT ASHTRAY/FRONT COMPARTMENT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and -1- from the center console bracket.

-- Disconnect the connector -1-.

-- Remove the four bolts -arrows-.

NOTE:

The center console bracket is not shown in the illustration.

-- Tip the gearshift mechanism function unit and remove the center console bracket.

-- Press and hold the parking lock button -C-.

-- Pull the selector rod -B- up and move the selector lever -arrow- into "S".

NOTE:

Ignore -A-.

Selector mechanism is shown from the front in the illustration.

-- Lift the selector mechanism function unit.

NOTE:

Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable.

-- Remove the clamping screw -1- through the opening at the top of the selector mechanism -arrow- using the Socket and KeyT40031.

-- Remove the locking plate -2- from the selector lever cable -1-.
