CONDITION

After the comfort system central control module, J393 (address word 05) is replaced, the control module cannot be coded via SVM spec/actual.

TECHNICAL BACKGROUND

Any time a comfort system central control module, J393 (address word 05), is replaced, the new control module must be coded and parameterized with online SVM spec/actual or an SVM code. If the SVM spec/actual returns a response of "Check Hardware", then an SVM code is required to code and parameterize the new control module.

The SVM code can be found in Parts Bulletin 9-101, which can be found on the etkainfo.com web site (Figure 1).

SERVICE

When the comfort system central control module, J393 (address word 05) is replaced, online coding and parameterization must first be attempted with an SVM spec/actual comparison. If the SVM spec/actual comparison returns a response of "Check Hardware", it is possible that one of the SVM codes listed below is required for coding and parameterizing the new control module.

Tip: No main software update is performed during this SVM communication.

Tip: If the vehicle is a model year 2008 or 2009 A5/S5 with an original control module part number of 8K0907289* , then it is no longer necessary to run the 8T46U002 and 8T46U003 SVM codes. The actions previously provided by these SVM codes have been incorporated into the SVM code XCHG46A001.
