Transmission, Installing
- Replace the bolts that were tightened with an additional turn.
- Replace the self-locking nuts and bolts as well as gaskets, seals and O-rings.
- Secure all hose connections with hose clamps that match those used in production.
- Bring all cable ties back to the same positions during installation.
Procedure
-- Mount the transmission on the :3282 and secure it.
-- Clean the input shaft splines and the hub, remove any corrosion and apply only a very thin coating of lubricant on the splines. Remove any excess grease.
-- Check if the alignment sleeves -A- for centering the engine and transmission are in the cylinder block and insert them if they are not.
-- Replace the needle bearing -arrow- in the crankshaft. Refer to CRANKSHAFT NEEDLE BEARING, REPLACING .
- If this needle bearing in the crankshaft is damaged, the gears are no longer able to shift correctly because the clutch is supported at this bearing.
-- Carefully lift the transmission using the :VAS6931 and bring it to its installation position using the :3282 .
-- Insert the transmission without pinching any lines.
-- Attach the transmission to the engine.
- The bolt -3- is only accessible via the opening for the removed starter.
- The bolt -9- is only present on the 1.4L TFSI engines.
-- Audi A3, Q2, TT: Adjust the assembly mounts. Refer to SUBFRAME MOUNT, ADJUSTING .
-- Remove the :3282 from the transmission.
-- Remove the :10-222A from the engine.
Leaks due to damaged seal.
- Introduce the pin of the bevel box carefully in the flange for the driveshaft.
-- Push the engine/transmission assembly toward the plenum chamber bulkhead while carefully guiding the bevel box pins into the driveshaft flange.
Tip:
- Some vehicle connectors for the Mechatronic are equipped with a clip which holds the connector in the end position after locking. When loosing the connector the bracket from the clip can break. If the bracket from the clip is broken, the clip must be replaced.
-- Replace the clip on the vehicle connector if equipped. Refer to CLIP ON VEHICLE CONNECTOR, REPLACING .
-- Connect the connector -1- to the Mechatronic and turn it all the way to lock it in place. On connectors with clip the bracket of the clip -2- must engage behind the hook from the connector -arrow-.
-- AWD vehicles: Install the driveshaft. Refer to appropriate service information. .
-- Tighten the bolts for the bevel box bracket. Refer to OVERVIEW - BEVEL BOX .
-- Install the drive axles. Refer to DRIVE AXLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Audi A3, Q2, TT: Install the subframe. Refer to SUBFRAME WITHOUT STEERING GEAR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Install the starter. Refer to STARTER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Install the air filter housing:
- Refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Fill with coolant. Refer to COOLANT, DRAINING AND FILLING .
-- Install the noise insulation. Refer to NOISE INSULATION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
If the Transmission is Replaced, the "Replace Control Module" Function must be Performed using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
-- Select Individual test on the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
