Driver Assistance Systems Front Camera, Calibrating, Static Calibration (Stationary Calibration)
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Wheel Alignment Computer approved by VW/Audi
- Vehicle Diagnostic Tester
- Wheel Alignment Computer - Camera: VAS701001/1
- Setting Device - Basic Set: VAS6430/1A
- Setting Device - Adapter: VAS6430/9 , only for surface mounted hoist with a dimension greater than 300 mm.
- If the third generation multifunction camera (MFK3) is installed on vehicles, a dynamic calibration is offered in the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester. This is recommended to be performed. Refer to DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEMS FRONT CAMERA, CALIBRATING, DYNAMIC CALIBRATION (CALIBRATION DRIVE) .
Calibrating the Front Camera is Necessary:
- The installation position of the Driver Assistance Systems Front Camera -R242- in the vehicle has changed.
- Rear axle toe/chamber was adjusted.
Calibration Conditions
- DTC memory is without relevant entry.
- Front wheels in straight position.
- Electromechanical parking brake applied.
- All doors, hood and the rear lid must be closed.
- Exterior rearview mirrors are folded out.
- There is no one in the vehicle.
- Vehicle in curb weight.
- Field of vision of the camera is free/clean.
- The vehicle exterior lamps are off.
- Battery charger for the battery support mode connected. Refer to BATTERY, CHARGING .
Procedure
The procedure is described on a John Bean Wheel Alignment Computer: VAS701001 . The procedure may vary if using other wheel alignment computers.
- Note the test requirements. Refer to AXLE ALIGNMENT TEST REQUIREMENTS .
- Follow the measurement preparations for calibrating/adjusting the driver assistance systems. Refer to MEASUREMENT PREPARATIONS .
-- Perform the initial wheel alignment.
-- Select the button for the Driver Assistance Systems Front Camera -R242- calibration procedure in the wheel alignment computer.
- The ACC Setting Device must not be moved on the calibration beam.
-- Make sure the calibration board is positioned in the center and is locked in place.
- Dimension -a- = dimension -b-.
-- Position the Setting Device: VAS6430 at a distance of -a- 150 cm ± 2.5 cm from the center of the wheel hub on the front wheels to the beam on the Setting Device: VAS6430 as shown.
- Measuring tape
-- Place the Wheel Alignment Computer - Camera: VAS701001/1 -1- for the ACC adjustment on the Setting Device - Basic Set: VAS6430 on the right side and tighten.
- For the next step, the alignment rack must be at the lowest level position.
-- Determine the height -A- between the contact surface of the Setting Device - Basic Set: VAS6430 and the wheel contact surface and enter it in the wheel alignment computer.
- Height of calibration board for all Audi SUV models: 1400 mm + height value -A-.
- Height of calibration board for all Audi non SUV models: 1200 mm + height value -A-.
-- Loosen the bolt -arrow- and place the measuring bar -1- on the floor.
-- Adjust the calibration board to the specified height -2- according to the wheel alignment computer using the crank -1-.
TIP:
If the specified height was reached -2-, then the measuring bar must be pushed slightly upward and secured with the clamping screw.
- If in later procedures the height of the calibration board must be corrected, make sure the measuring bar is touching the ground when this is being done.
-- Balance the bubble level -A- using the adjusting screw -1-.
-- Slide the Setting Device Basic Set: VAS6430/1 to the side in direction of -arrows B-, until the display in the wheel alignment computer is in the tolerance range.
-- Secure the Setting Device Basic Set: VAS6430/1 to prevent it from rolling by lightly tightening the screws -2 and 3-.
-- Turn the fine adjustment screw -1- until the display on the wheel alignment computer is within the tolerance range.
-- Balance the bubble level -A- using the adjusting screw -1-.
-- Level the bubble level -B- using the adjusting screws -2 and 3-.
- Because the height may change slightly after adjusting the levels, check the height of the calibration board again. Refer to DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEMS FRONT CAMERA, CALIBRATING, STATIC CALIBRATION (STATIONARY CALIBRATION) - Adjust the calibration board to the specified height -2- according to the wheel alignment computer using the crank -1-. .
-- Connect the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
-- Switch the ignition on.
-- Select and start the Diagnostic operating mode.
-- Select the Test plan tab.
-- Select the Select individual test button and select the following tree structure consecutively:
Vehicles with Front Camera MFK2
- Diagnostic-capable systems
- 00A5 - Driver Assistance Systems Control Module, MFK2
- 00A5 - Driver Assistance Systems Front Camera, Functions
- 00A5 - Calibrate control module
Vehicles with Front Camera MFK3
- Diagnostic-capable systems
- 00A5 - Driver Assistance Systems Control Module, MFK3
- 00A5 - Functions
- 00A5 - Calibration
-- Start the selected program and follow the instructions on the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester display.
Next, determine the height of the body.
-- Determine the dimension -a- between the wheel contact surface and the lower edge of the fender/wheel housing an all four wheels, as shown.
-- Switch off the ignition after successful calibration/adjustment.
-- Disconnect the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester from the data link connector.
-- Disconnect the battery charger. Refer to BATTERY, CHARGING .
Additional work, when the Driver Assistance Systems Front Camera -R242- is replaced:
- Adjust the headlamps. Refer to HEADLAMP, ADJUSTING .
