Multi-Function Transmission Range Switch, Adjusting

Work sequence

-- Remove left-side transmission support TRANSMISSION SUPPORT, LEFT-SIDE .

-- Disconnect selector lever cable from transmission selector lever.

-- Unscrew clamping screw (arrow -1-) all the way and disconnect transmission selector lever from shaft -1-.

-- Remove multi-function switch mounting screws (arrows -2-) and pull multi-function switch off of shaft.

-- Move selector shaft -1- back out of this position two detents to position "N."

NOTE:

The multi-function switch can be adjusted using the installation aid that is supplied with the switch as a replacement part, or using the adjusting device:3338 .

Adjusting using installation aid

-- Place installation aid on shaft.

-- Loosen multi-function switch mounting screws (arrows).

-- Turn multi-function switch until it aligns with hole in installation aid and secure using pin or 4 mm drill bit.

-- Tighten multi-function switch mounting screws (8 Nm or 71 in. lb).

-- Remove installation aid and pin or drill bit.

Adjusting using installation device:3338

-- Place installation device:3338 on shaft and tighten its set screw using small screwdriver.

NOTE:

Before fastening, make sure the installation device lies flat on the cover of the multi-function switch. If necessary, first turn set screw in a little.

-- Loosen multi-function switch mounting screws (arrows).

-- Turn multi-function switch so that hole in installation device:3338 and multi-function switch align and can be secured using pin from installation device:3338 .

-- Tighten multi-function switch mounting screws (arrows) to 8 Nm (71 in. lb).

-- Remove installation device.

Installing

-- Install transmission selector lever onto shaft -1- and tighten clamping screw (arrow -1-) to 8 Nm (71 in. lb).

-- Install selector lever cable to transmission selector lever (9 Nm or 80 in. lb).

-- Connect harness connector for multi-function switch.

-- Take up weight of engine using lifting device.

-- Adjust selector lever cable SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, ADJUSTING .

NOTE:

After repeating the adjustment of the selector lever cable and the multi-function switch, if the selector lever range display in the instrument cluster does not match the selector lever position, replace the Multifunction Transmission Range (TR) switch -F125- MULTI-FUNCTION TRANSMISSION RANGE SWITCH .

-- Again take up weight of engine using lifting device.

-- Install left-side transmission support Installing .
