Selector lever in position "P" and ignition switched on
- Brake pedal is not depressed
The selector lever is blocked and cannot be moved out of position "P." Shift lock solenoid blocks the selector lever.
- Brake pedal depressed
Shift lock solenoid releases the selector lever. It is possible to engage a driving mode.
-- Slowly move selector lever from position "P" through "R, N, D, 3, 2, 1." While doing this, make sure selector lever display in instrument cluster corresponds to selector lever position.
Selector lever in position "N" and ignition switched on
- Brake pedal is not depressed
The selector lever is blocked and cannot be moved out of position "N." Shift lock solenoid blocks the selector lever.
- Brake pedal is depressed
Shift lock solenoid releases the selector lever. It is possible to engage a driving mode.
The starter must not be able to be operated in selector lever positions "1", "2", "3", "D" and "R."
At speeds over 5 km/h (3 MPH) and the selector lever moved into position "N", the shift lock solenoid must not engage and block the selector lever. Selector lever can be shifted into a driving mode.
At speeds under 5 km/h (3 MPH or almost stopped) and the selector lever moved into position "N", the shift lock solenoid must not engage until after approx. 1 second. Selector lever cannot be moved out of the position "N" until after the brake pedal is depressed.
