Control Module, Separating From Hydraulic Unit
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- ESD Work Surface:VAS6613
- Torx Bit T25:VAS5377
- Only replace the control module if the control module is faulty.
- If the hydraulic unit is faulty, the hydraulic unit and the control module are to be replaced together.
Procedure
-- Remove the ABS Control Module -J104- /ABS Hydraulic Unit -N55-. Refer to ABS Control Module -J104- /ABS Hydraulic Unit -N55-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
There is a risk of destroying the hydraulic unit by removing the return flow pump.
- Never separate the return flow pump from the hydraulic unit.
There is a risk of destroying the control module through the electrostatic charge and reduced cleanliness.
- Discharge electrostatic charge: touch the electro-static discharge work surface
- Protect the inner control module from moisture and dirt.
-- Touch a grounded object (ESD Work Surface:VAS6613 ) before working on electrical equipment. Do not touch the connector terminals or electronic components directly.
-- Position the hydraulic unit with the control module on the ESD Work Surface:VAS6613 .
-- Position the hydraulic unit with the control module from upward on the ESD Work Surface:VAS6613 .
- The control module -2- faces upward and the hydraulic unit -4- with the pump motor and connector -3- faces down.
-- Remove and dispose of the bolts -1- (there is a risk of interchanging them with the new Torx bolts).
-- Carefully remove the control module vertically upward without tilting.
-- Cover the open hydraulic unit with a lint-free cloth.
-- Cover the control module solenoid coils with a lint free cloth.
-- Check the hydraulic unit sealing surface, and if necessary, clean with mineral spirits and a lint-free cloth.
-- A damaged sealing surface must not be mechanically reworked. A hydraulic unit with a damaged sealing surface must be replaced.
- The seal on the control module must not be pulled out or raised up.
- The seal on the control module cannot be replaced.
