Selector Lever Cable, Checking And Adjusting
Always adjust the selector lever cable if:
- The selector lever cable was removed from the transmission.
- The engine and (or) transmission were removed and installed.
- The selector mechanism was removed and installed.
Adjusting
-- Switch on the ignition and engage the "P" position.
-- Remove the battery tray. Refer to BATTERY TRAY, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Push the cable retainer -1- to the front -arrow A- and then lock it -arrow B-. The cable retainer -1- is now detached from the selector lever cable -2-.
- Always replace the cable retainer -1-.
-- Engage the selector lever in the -P- lever position by moving the selector lever all the way toward the cable bracket -arrow-.
-- To check, turn both of the front wheels in the same direction at the same time.
- The parking lock is engaged when it is not possible to rotate both front wheels in the same direction at the same time.
-- Turn the cable retainer -1- in -direction of the arrow A- and release the tension on the spring -arrow B-. The cable -2- is adjusted.
This ends the adjustment.
-- Install the battery tray. Refer to BATTERY TRAY, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
