Section 7 (Engine Controls - Tests W/Codes): Introduction

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1995 BMW 525iT, 1995 BMW 525i, 1995 BMW 325is, and 1995 BMW 325i. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Some 1995 models use OBD-II diagnostics which was fully introduced for model year 1996. For further information, see BMW SELF DIAGNOSIS - 1996 article.

If no faults were found while performing BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES, proceed with self-diagnostics. If no fault codes or only pass codes are present after entering self-diagnostics, proceed to TESTS W/O CODES article for diagnosis by symptom (i.e., ROUGH IDLE, NO START, etc.).

NOTE: All voltage tests should be performed with a Digital Volt-Ohmmeter (DVOM) with a minimum 10-megohm input impedance, unless specifically stated otherwise in testing procedures.
