SITUATION

Table below lists the most frequent questions/problems received by the Technical Hotline in reference to Car Memory/Key Memory programming in E38, E39 vehicles, while using DIS version 15.0.

PROBLEM	CAUSE	CORRECTION
What functions can be coded? What production dates are included?	---	For listing of available selections refer to SI 09 03 98 (October '98), or go to "Print List" at the end of Car or Key Memory selection page.
In "Key Memory" programming message "No valid key with remote control recognized" is displayed.	DIS programming error.	To find out the key sequence, initialize (and label) both keys prior to "Key Memory" programming. Disregard erroneous message, select appropriate key (number 1 or 2) and proceed with selection.
Message "Error in program run" is displayed.	On vehicles with codable DSP amplifiers (from 03/98 production or if replacement Loewe amplifier was installed, P/N 65 12 8 375 788 or 65 12 B 386 281), DSP (radio) has to be turned on in order to be recognized.	Turn radio on during programming.
Following fault codes are stored: 112- ASC CAN fault in instrument cluster, 29- Gong, sound volume (GAL) in instrument cluster 3- I-Bus fault "Telephone" in MID.	Erroneous faults (do not affect Car/Key Memory programming).	Disregard erroneous faults and proceed with programming.
On vehicles from 09/98 production ('99 model year), selections: "Automatic lock after pulling away" and :Selective central locking" from Car Memory/Central Locking System selection not effective.	For '99 model year, those selections should not be listed in Car Memory-DIS programming error. They are available only in Key Memory.	Program "Selective central locking" and "Automatic lock after pulling away" in Key Memory.
