Coding Procedure for CPT 8000 Phone TCU Module on E38 Vehicles

SITUATION

The E38 vehicles outlined above were equipped with the early version of the CPT8000 Phone TCU (Telematics Control Unit) - P/N 84 11 0 025 709.

In order for the CPT 8000 Phone system to correctly process the Mayday (Emergency) phone calls, it is necessary to code the TCU using DIS/MoDiC loaded with version 26.0 (or higher). Coding provides the TCU module with vehicle's VIN number, which is transmitted during Mayday activated phone call.

The later version of the CPT8000 TCU (P/N 84 11 0 025 708) does not required manual coding. Automatic ZCS coding takes place during first 30 seconds after installation, when ignition is turned ON (KL15).

PROCEDURE

1. Connect diagnostic connector of DIS Plus/MoDiC (loaded with CD C26.0, or higher) to the vehicle.
2. Turn the key ON (KL15).
3. Select "Coding/Program."
4. Select "3. ZCS Coding". Scroll right>.
5. Select "5. E38 Series". Scroll right>.
6. Select "2. Retrofit". Scroll right>.
7. Select "17. US Phone module". Scroll right>.
8. "US phone is recoded and the Central Coding Key in the IKE is automatically altered" is displayed. Scroll right>.
9. "US phone. Start automatic coding?" Is displayed. Select "Yes".
   IMPORTANT: If "US phone. No coding data available for this SG version" is displayed that means, that the later version of TCU (P/N 84 11 0 025 708) has been already installed in the vehicle. In such a case manual coding is not required.
10. When coding is complete, "US phone The central coding code has been changed! New central label required. Write or print out new central label and affix to car! Turn ignition off. Wait 10 seconds. Turn ignition on again and carry out the functional check" is displayed. Coding process has been completed.
