SUBJECT
Cannot Program Vehicle and Key Memory
SITUATION
Vehicle and Key Memory (VKM) cannot be programmed on E46 vehicles with the CD43 radio (option code SA662). The message "No Car/Key Memory Possible" is displayed.
After the release of DIS CD25, this VKM situation will be corrected with a CD25.1 program patch.
After installation of the patch, the following procedure will no longer be necessary.
CAUSE
Error in coding program
PROCEDURE
Perform this procedure only until the CD25.1 patch is available:
Before programming a customer's VKM selections, using DIS or MoDiC:
- Select Coding/Programming.
- Select "ZCS coding".
- Select "E46 series".
- Select "Recoding".
- Select "Kombi".
- The screen displays "Kombi has been selected?" - Answer "Yes".
- Select "Recode control unit".
- The screen displays the question "Should module be rigidly assigned" - Answer "Yes".
- The screen displays the VIN with the question "Chassis # change?" - Answer "No".
- All (3) lines of ZCS code are displayed with the question "Change?" - Answer "Yes".
- The GM line of code is then displayed with the question "Selection correct?" - Answer "Yes".
- The SA line of code is then displayed with the question "Selection correct?" - Answer "Yes".
- The VN line of code is then displayed with the question "Selection correct?". - Answer "No".
- Using the keypad displayed on the screen, overwrite the VN line with a new VN line according to the table below.VN LINE INFORMATION

- All (3) lines of ZCS code are displayed with the question "Indication correct?". Check VN line to confirm the correct input - Answer "Yes" if correct. Answer "No" if not correct, and repeat ZCS code entry from Step 5.
- Follow the on screen instructions to complete the change of ZCS code in the Instrument Cluster.
- Continue with VKM programming.
