SUBJECT
Vehicle and Key Memory (VKM) cannot be Programmed on an E46
MODEL
E46 (3 Series) vehicles produced from November 12, 2001 to November 27, 2001.
SITUATION
While attempting to perform Vehicle and Key Memory Programming, the error message "No valid vehicle order is entered in Kombi. Please code Kombi" appears when attempting to code the instrument cluster.
CAUSE
Vehicle coding error
PROCEDURE
If the above situation occurs follow the procedure below.
- Using DIS or MoDiC, select item "Re-coding" in the coding program.
- The error message "No valid vehicle order is entered in Kombi. Please code Kombi" appears.
- Continue by pressing the arrow key. "Kombi" appears on the screen. Select "Kombi" and press arrow key. On next page confirm with "Yes" and press arrow key, select "Re-code control unit"
- Continue following the known procedure until the vehicle order is displayed. "Change?" appears at the end of the vehicle order. Answer with "Yes"
- The type code, time criterion, paint code and upholstery code then appear one after the other. These are to be confirmed with a "Yes".
- The message "Vehicle order incorrect. Please correct feature ARSW" appears.
- Press arrow key and select Item "Delete feature" on next page.
- Select "E-word" in the selection list that now appears.
- "Delete E-word" appears, enter "ARSW" using on screen keypad, "Confirm entry/display?" with "Yes".
- Press arrow key and Select item "Terminate and check entry" in the following mask. The vehicle order is shown without the E-word ARSW.
- Answer the question "Display correct?" with "Yes".
- The instrument cluster can now be coded without any problems in the usual manner.
