SUBJECT
Automatic Identification, Coding and CKM not Possible
SITUATION
The Vehicle Order is missing in Kombi and LSZ. No automatic identification, coding or Car/Key Memory is possible
CAUSE
The Vehicle Order has been corrupted during earlier retrofit procedure.
PROCEDURE
Please contact the Technical Hotline by submitting a PUMA case to receive a VIN specific disc that contains the correct Vehicle Order (E46) or to receive a VIN via email (E83, E85).
PROCEDURE FOR E46 (3 SERIES)
Use the following procedure to adapt the VO using a floppy disk.
Select "Coding and Programming" on a SSS or DISplus.
Select "3 ZCS coding"
Displayed message "Coding by means of ZCS/FA coding version C39.1", page right
Important Displayed message about CKM can be over written, page right
Select "7 E46"
Select "1 Recoding"
Message - No valid vehicle order is entered in KOMBI, Page right
Select "10 KOMBI"
Message: KOMBI has been selected, Selection correct? Select "Yes"
Select "2 Recode control unit"
Message "Install control unit so that it works properly." Page right
Message "A control unit that has been replaced..." Page right
Message Should Rigidly assign to the car? Select "Yes"
Chassis number XXXXXX, Change? Select "Yes"
The last 7 digits of the VIN are displayed, Select the page right button
Confirm the VIN by entering the last 7 digits and select "Yes"
Message - No vehicle order present. Enter VO? Select "Yes"
Message - File with VO already imported with a diskette or via the Network. Select "No"
Message - Diskette with the VO present? Select "Yes"
Message - Insert the diskette with VO in the diskette drive
Insert floppy disk with VO into drive and page right
- The following 4 steps may not be necessary:
- Confirm the Model Destination code and Select "Yes"
- Confirm the Time criterion (0904) and Select "Yes"
- Confirm the paint code and Select "Yes"
- Confirm the upholstery code and Select "Yes"
Confirm the vehicle information & option codes, Display correct? Select "Yes"
Enter \ Confirm the Inspection date, For USA vehicles answer "Yes"
Message KOMBI, Start automatic coding? Select "Yes"
Message Automatic coding active
Message Vehicle order has not been changed. Turn the ignition off for 10 seconds.
Recode LSZ module
Check to see if you can access the system correctly
PROCEDURE FOR E83 (X3) AND E85 (Z4)
To modify the vehicle order (VO) or to reload an existing VO, the appropriate VO must be loaded to an empty floppy disk. The VO file is supplied by e-mail from the Technical Hotline. Please make request using the PUMA system. A return e-mail address must be provided. The VO can also be sent as a disc via FEDEX if necessary.
- Connect the vehicle to an approved BMW battery charger
- Using DISplus/SSS, and with the diagnostic head connected to the vehicle, select Coding/Programming.
- Insert the disk into the floppy drive.
- Select option "CIP", then press the forward arrow. The initial CIP screen is then displayed.
- Select the appropriate vehicle model.
- Press the "Vehicle" button at the screen with the text "Program SELECTION: 1. Terminate CIP 2. Load software 3. Car & Key Memory (CKM)... ".
- Press "Vehicle order" .
- Press "Adapt VO" and follow the on-screen instructions.
