SUBJECT
Compass Changes Direction when Operating the RHT
SITUATION
When opening the Retractable Hardtop (RHT), the compass located in the rearview mirror may spontaneously change direction by up to 90 degrees.
CAUSE
The movement of the front panel of the RHT causes a disruption to the magnetic field, which is used by the compass to determine the correct direction.
CORRECTION
- No corrective action is necessary.
- The compass will again display the correct direction if:
- The RHT is closed immediately after opening.
- The vehicle is driven a short distance in order to recalibrate the compass.
