SUBJECT

Dynamic Stability Control Unit (DSC) Aborted when Programming Vehicle

SITUATION

If termination of vehicle programming occurs due to:

  1. Undervoltage (when the vehicle is connected to an approved battery charger/power supply)
  2. Lost connection to the server
  3. Termination by the control module
  4. Termination by ISTA/P
  5. ICOM connector removed/falls out

Then the DSC module may no longer communicate when connected to ISTA/D or ISTA/P. As a result, the DSC module cannot be reprogrammed.

CAUSE

DSC software

CORRECTION

Perform the DSC module reset:

  1. Disconnect the DSC control module from the power supply (remove the DSC module connector).
  2. Disconnect the battery charger and battery.
  3. Wait at least 5 minutes.
  4. Reconnect the DSC control module.
  5. Connect the battery and charger.

It should now be possible to diagnose the DSC control module again. A new programming session can now be performed.

In some cases, this will not be successful and a replacement DSC module is required.

WARRANTY INFORMATION

Programming termination reasons A through D only:

Even though work time labor operation code 34 50 003 ends in "003," it is not considered a Main labor operation. Also, since the "work time" FRU allowance to be claimed is specified, a separate punch time is not required.

Refer to KSD2 for the corresponding flat rate unit (FRU) allowance. Enter the Chassis Number, which consists of the last 7 digits of the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). Click on the "Search" button, and then enter the applicable flat rate labor operation in the FR code field.
