SUBJECT
DME Fault Code CD9711 Stored After Programming
SITUATION
After programming the vehicle with ISTA/P 3.55.0 (I-Level F010-15-03-501 and F001-15-03-501):
- The check engine light (CEL) is illuminated, and
- DME fault code "CD9711 - FlexRay, message (control diagnostics OBD vehicle dynamics, 247.0.2): missing" is stored and cannot be cleared.

PROCEDURE
Only properly trained personnel, who have passed all applicable technical training courses, should perform any maintenance or repairs on any Hybrid or Electric Vehicle. Work performed by unqualified persons may result in severe injury or damage to the vehicle. Additional information may be found in REP 61 00... Observe safety instructions when handling electric vehicles.
Program the complete vehicle with ISTA/P 3.55.3 (I-Level F010-15-03-503 and F001-15-03-503 or higher).
WARRANTY INFORMATION
Covered under the terms of the BMW New Vehicle Limited Warranty for Passenger Cars and Light Trucks or the BMW Certified Pre-Owned Program.
This repair is also covered by the terms of the Federal and/or State-specific Emissions Warranty (dependent on the vehicle's model year, state of registration and its inclusion on the "model-specific" list of covered components) that applies to the BMW model(s) listed.
The BMW Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty applies to BMW vehicles that have and are still within the BMW Certified Pre-Owned coverage period, but beyond applicable Emissions Warranty coverage.

Vehicle Programming and Encoding
If a control module or component was working properly and/or had no related faults stored prior to vehicle programming and it fails to program correctly or requires initialization, this additional work must be claimed with separate labor operations under the defect code listed above; refer to KSD2.
Repairs to control modules and components with pre-existing conditions are not eligible to be claimed under the defect code listed in this bulletin.
