SUBJECT
Service Action: Programming Control Units
SITUATION
Sporadically the vehicle cannot be started, due to a discharged battery caused by a software glitch in the instrument cluster.
AFFECTED VEHICLES
This Service Action involves the models listed above, produced from March 2, 2015 to April 9, 2015. Please perform it next time this vehicle comes to your workshop.
Vehicles which require this Service Action to be completed will show it as "Open" when checked either in the "Service Menu" of DCSnet (Dealer Communication System) or with the Key Reader.
PROCEDURE
- Perform diagnosis with ISTA.
- Program and code the vehicle using ISTA/P 3.53.3 or higher.
New integration level:
F01, F02, F04, F07: F001-15-03-503 or higher
F06, F10, F10H, F12, F13: F010-15-03-503 or higher
F15, F16: F025-15-03-503 or higher
Note that ISTA/P will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software.

Reimbursement for this Service Action will be via normal claim entry utilizing the following information:

Vehicle Programming and Encoding
If a vehicle control module or component was working properly and/or had no related faults stored prior to vehicle programming and it fails to program correctly and/or requires initialization, this additional work must be claimed with separate labor operations (refer to KSD2) under the defect code listed above.
Repairs to address control modules and/or components with pre-existing conditions are not eligible to be claimed under the defect code listed in this bulletin.

Perform the procedure outlined in this Service Information on all affected vehicles before customer delivery or the next time they are in the shop for maintenance or repairs.
