SITUATION
After a head unit or BDC/BCP is swapped, many functions or features in the head unit are not active and the fault "B7F87A: Component Protection Active" is stored in the head unit.
CAUSE
Security functions included in the listed head units will deactivate (lock mode) all FSC* Enabling Codes if removed and swapped into a new vehicle. This security feature is called "Trusted VIN" or "Head Unit Component Protection".
*German acronym Freischalt Code
CORRECTION
All authorized FSC Enabling Codes will need to be reactivated and Head Unit Component Protection will need to be reinitialized.
PROCEDURE
Create a TSARA case with Technical Support to request the recreation of FSC Enabling Codes and certificates for the vehicle.
After the FSC Enabling Codes and certificates have been recreated, follow the next steps:
- Connect the battery charger to the vehicle
- Connect the diagnosis system to the vehicle (ISTA 4)
- Select "Vehicle Management"
- Select "Vehicle Modification"
- Select "Immediate Actions"
- Select "Initialization of component protection in the head unit (HU)"
- Select "Display Measures Plan"
- Determine Measures plan and complete the programming
- Follow the rework list for any final initializations or calibrations
After the programming has been fully completed, check functionality of the system.
