SERVICE INFORMATION
Please perform the procedure outlined in this Service Information on all affected vehicles before customer delivery. In the event the customer has already taken delivery of the vehicle, please perform the procedure the next time the vehicle is in the shop.
What's New:
This Service Information bulletin replaces:
- SI B12 43 15 dated December 2015; and
- SI B12 41 15 dated November 2015
With the B58M engines produced from 7/1/2015 to 11/30/15
AFFECTED VEHICLES
This Service Action involves G12 and F30 vehicles with B58M engines produced from January 1, 2015 to November 30, 2015.
Vehicles which require this Service Action to be completed will show it as "Open" when checked either in AIR, the "Service Menu" of DCSnet (Dealer Communication System) or with the Key Reader.
SITUATION
On the above mentioned vehicles, certain G12 and F30 vehicles produced from July 1, 2015 to November 30, 2015 may experience a combination of several unfavorable engine operating conditions that may not set the required On Board Diagnostics (OBD) code. This action will prevent this situation from occurring.
CAUSE
Software error in the Digital Motor Electronics control unit (DME).
CORRECTION
Program the vehicle using ISTA Next
PROCEDURE
Program the vehicle using ISTA Next to appropriate level shown below:

Note that ISTA Next will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software.
Always connect a BMW-approved battery charger/power supply ( SI B04 23 10 ).

Reimbursement for this Service Action will be via normal claim entry utilizing the following information:
