Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove hood/bonnet locks. See REPLACING LEFT ACTIVE ENGINE COMPARTMENT LID LOCK and REPLACING RIGHT ACTIVE ENGINE COMPARTMENT LID LOCK .
Check hood/bonnet locks for damage; replace if necessary.
