61 66... Installing pulse eliminator

NOTE: Repair instructions describe installation of the pulse eliminator (part number 7 404 885).
Pulse eliminator is fitted in case of the following customer complaint:

Windscreen washer fluid splashing onto windscreen when rear window washer is operated.

Necessary preliminary work:

Open engine compartment lid

NOTE: Hose with wiring harness (1) is located at right in direction of travel on gas pressure spring (2).

Remove hose with wiring harness (1) from bracket on gas pressure spring (2). Unfasten clip (3) from bonnet.

Pull off hose (1) from support (2).

Version with heated washer jets only:

Bend up tab (2). Remove wiring harness (1) from hose (3) as shown in figure.

Shorten hose (1) 30 mm with a suitable tool.

Cut-off hose (1) is no longer needed.

IMPORTANT: Risk of damage to version with heated washer jets!
Do not damage the wiring harness (2) when shortening the hose (1)!

Version with heated washer jets only:

Engage wiring harness (1) in hose (3) and close tab (2).

Connect hose (2) to pulse eliminator (1) (from either side).

Connect pulse eliminator (1) to hose (2) as shown.

Connect hose (2) from pulse eliminator (1) to fitting (3) as shown.

Mask off excess length of wiring harness as shown (1).

Attach hose with wiring harness to bracket on gas pressure spring. Fasten clip in bonnet.
