Please perform the procedure outlined in this Service Information on all affected vehicles before customer delivery. In the event the customer has already taken delivery of the vehicle, please perform the procedure the next time the vehicle is in the shop.
SITUATION
The actual range can be inaccurate in relation to the state of charge of the high-voltage battery.
Affects certain VINs (not all) produced between July 31, 2013 and July 18, 2016. Please check the key reader or the Warranty Vehicle Inquiry screen in DCSnet.
CAUSE
The range calculation incorporated in the SME software.
CORRECTION
Reprogram the SME with updated software.
PROCEDURE
The vehicle can be sold after the following repair procedure is performed:
Program and code the complete vehicle with ISTA/P 3.59.4 or ISTA 4.01.10 (Target I-Level 16-07-506) or higher.
Always connect a BMW approved battery charger/power supply (SI B 04 23 10 ).
