Brake light switch

Only 1 Hall effect sensor is installed as a switch in the brake light switch. The signal indicates whether the brake pedal is pressed. The data transfer occurs digitally at the Body Domain Controller (BDC). The Body Domain Controller applies the signal to the bus system, e.g. for the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC).

The brake-light switch has no moving parts and works as a non-contact switch. A change in the switching state is achieved by removing or applying a ferromagnetic trigger element to the brake pedal.

The Hall effect sensor changes its resistance as a function of the magnetomotive force. When the brake pedal is not pressed, the brake pedal is above the brake light switch. When the brake pedal is pressed, the brake pedal is at least 1.8 mm away.
