In every brake circuit, there are pairs of solenoid valves. One intake valve (de-energized open) and one discharge valve (de-energized closed). By activating these correspondingly, the brake pressure at the front wheels and rear wheels is modulated.
Changeover of the suction connections of the pump from the low pressure accumulators to the tandem brake master cylinder is performed via the electrical changeover valves.
The digital brake pressure sensor registers the brake pressure applied via the brake pedal and the brake servo. Additional information regarding the DSC control unit is also stored in the digital signal of the brake pressure sensor. The digital brake pressure sensor transmits data notifying which DSC hydraulic control unit is affected. This avoids confusion with different series. If the DSC control unit detects a confusion, this results in fault code entries and the warning light illuminating in the instrument cluster.
The DSC control unit is supplied three times via terminal 30 (piston pump, solenoid valves, control unit electronics).
Special damping elements are fitted in the DSC hydraulic control unit in vehicles with ACC. The damping elements compensate pressure fluctuations in the piston pump (2 pistons).
