Vehicle Speed Sensor: Description and Operation


The Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS)--positioned behind the speedometer in the instrument cluster--informs the ECM of vehicle speed.

The ECM processes this information to determine when to activate or deactivate the torque converter clutch.
