Steering Column: Preparation

Steering column removal is not necessary if the lock plate cover, lockplate, steering shaft snap ring, canceling cam, turn signal switch or upper bearing preload spring is to be serviced. For the remaining components, steering column must be removed. Disassembly procedure for the tilt/telescopic steering column is similar to the tilt steering column.
