Test O: Electronic Brake Control Module/Electronic Brake Traction Control Module (EBCM/EBTCM) Grounded Switch Input

  1. Perform ABS/TCS functional check before proceeding. See ABS/TCS FUNCTIONAL CHECK  . Go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect EBCM/EBTCM harness connector. Connect Pinout Box (J-38716). Disconnect TCC/Anti-Lock Brake switch connector. See Figure . Disconnect PMV connector. On models with traction control, disconnect PMV Black connector C1. Go to next step.
  3. Using DVOM, measure resistance between pinout box pin No. 1 and DLC terminal "A". See Figure and Figure . Resistance should be less than 2 ohms. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, repair open in circuit No. 803 (Black/White wire) and go to next step.
  4. Measure resistance, in turn, between pinout box pins No. 1 and the following: pinout box pins No. 5, 8 and 13. Resistance readings should be infinite (open circuit). If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If any reading is not as specified, repair short to ground in suspect wire and go to next step.
  5. Measure resistance between pinout box pins No. 1 and 26. Resistance should be infinite (open circuit). If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, repair short to ground in circuit No. 853 (Light Blue/Black wire) and go to next step.
  6. If all readings are as specified, check EBCM/EBTCM connector terminals for poor contact. If EBCM/EBTCM terminals are okay, replace EBCM/EBTCM. See ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL MODULE/ELECTRONIC BRAKE TRACTION CONTROL MODULE (EBCM/EBTCM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  7. After all repairs are complete, clear codes, and repeat ABS/TCS FUNCTIONAL CHECK  .
