Code 41, Cam Sensor CKT: Notes
NOTE:
There are 2 types of ignition systems, Type "I" and Type "II", ignition type is based on coil pack design. Type "I" coil pack is a 1-piece molded unit. Type "II" coil pack has 3 individually replaceable coils. Testing for each type is similar.
Code 41 will set if engine is running and a cam sensor signal is not received by ECM for last 2-5 seconds.
NOTE:
Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart.
- Verifies proper operation of circuits No. 633, 644 and 645.
- Tests cam signal circuit from C3I ignition module to ECM.
- If harmonic balancer windows are interfacing with cam sensor, voltage reading may be zero. Bumping engine using starter will cause condition to go away.
- If voltage reading is varying around a midpoint of 10.5 volts and connections are good, ECM is faulty.
