Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Service and Repair

Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor:

NOTE: Care must be taken when handling Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor. Damage to ECT sensor will affect proper operation of the fuel injection system.

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Relieve cooling system pressure.
3. Disconnect electrical connector from sensor.
4. Using a 19 mm deep well socket, remove sensor.

INSTALLATION

1. Coat sensor threads with sealer.
2. Install sensor in engine, torque to 30 Nm (22 ft lb).
3. Reconnect electrical connector.
4. Refill coolant.
5. Install battery ground cable.
6. Start engine, check for coolant leaks.
7. Recheck coolant level.
