DTC B2602: DRL Control Module Circuit (Short To Ground Or Open): Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1999 Buick Regal and 1999 Buick Century. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. If BCM diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If BCM diagnostic system check was not performed, go to BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect BCM Pink 32-pin connector C1. Using test light, backprobe between BCM harness connector C1 terminal C9 (Pink/White wire) and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . See Figure . If test light comes on, go to step  8 . If test light does not come on, go to next step.
  3. Using DVOM, check resistance between BCM harness connector C1 terminal C9 (Pink/White wire) and ground. If resistance is infinite, go to next step. If resistance is not infinite, go to step  5 .
  4. Leave DVOM connected as specified in previous step. Disconnect DRL control module connectors. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS  . If resistance is infinite, go to step  9 . If resistance is not infinite, go to step  6 .
  5. Using test light, backprobe between DRL control module Blue 8-pin connector C2, terminal "B" (Pink/White wire) and ground. If test light comes on, go to step  14 . If test light does not come on, go to step  7 .
  6. Connect test light between DRL control module Black 8-pin harness connector C1 terminal "A" (Orange wire) and battery voltage. If test light comes on, go to step  11 . If test light does not come on, go to step  12 .
  7. Connect test light between DRL control module Black 8-pin harness connector C1 terminal "A" (Orange wire) and ground. If test light comes on, go to step  12 . If test light does not come on, go to step  13 .
  8. Turn ignition off. Reinstall all components and connectors. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Turn ignition switch to START, then to RUN position. Check for DTCs. If DTC B2602 is set, go to step  10 . If DTC B2602 is not set, go to step  15 .
  9. Repair short to ground in Pink/White wire between BCM connector C1 and DRL control module connector C2. Go to step  16 .
  10. Turn ignition off. Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Reprogram BCM. See NEW BCM SETUP  under PROGRAMMING. Go to step  16 .
  11. Repair short to ground in Orange wire between DRL control module connector C1 and underhood accessory wiring junction block. Go to step  16 .
  12. Replace DRL control module. Go to step  16 .
  13. Repair poor connection or open in Orange wire between DRL control module connector C1 and underhood accessory wiring junction block. Go to step  16 .
  14. Repair poor connection or open in Pink/White wire between DRL control module connector C2 and BCM connector C1. Go to step  16 .
  15. System is operating properly at this time. See DIAGNOSTIC AIDS  . After any repairs are made, go to next step.
  16. Turn ignition off. Reinstall all components and connectors. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Check for DTCs. If any DTCs are current, perform BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTS. If no DTCs are current, system is operating properly.
