Diagnostic System Check

  1. Turn ignition off. Turn ignition on. Security indicator should illuminate for 5 seconds, then turn off. If security indicator stays on, go to TEST NO. 1  under SYMPTOM TESTS. If security indicator illuminates for 5 seconds, then flashes, go to TEST NO. 2  under SYMPTOM TESTS. If security indicator does not illuminate, see ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS - CENTURY & REGAL article.
  2. Ensure transaxle is in Park. Turn ignition switch to START position. Engine should start and security indicator should illuminate for 5 seconds, then turn off. If security indicator stays illuminated, go to TEST NO. 1  under SYMPTOM TESTS. If security indicator illuminates for 5 seconds, then flashes (engine may or may not start), go to TEST NO. 2  under SYMPTOM TESTS. If security indicator illuminates for 5 seconds, then turns off and engine does not start, go to TEST NO. 3  under SYMPTOM TESTS.
