Dash Integration Module Set Up

NOTE: This procedure is used after replacing or when reprogramming Dash Integration Module (DIM). Before replacing DIM, record personalization settings to transfer to new module (if available). See DASH INTEGRATION MODULE under OPERATION in appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article.
NOTE: Air bag indicator light may remain on after Dash Integration Module (DIM) is replaced and during programming procedure for DIM. Air bag indicator light may remain on until after procedure is completed and ignition key is cycled from LOCK then RUN positions.
  1. Ensure scan tool has been updated with latest software version.
  2. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located on lower left side of instrument panel.
  3. Turn ignition to RUN position.
  4. Under DIM MAIN MENU on scan tool, select SPECIAL FUNCTIONS.
  5. Under SPECIAL FUNCTIONS menu, select NEW VIN.
  6. Following instructions on scan tool to edit Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). Press SAVE to save VIN information. Press DONE to go back to special functions menu.
  7. Under SPECIAL FUNCTIONS menu, one of the choices is SETUP SDM SERIAL NUMBER IN DIM.
  8. Select SETUP SDM SERIAL NUMBER IN DIM.
  9. After choosing SETUP SDM SERIAL NUMBER IN DIM, scan tool will display DO YOU WANT TO SET UP A DASH INTEGRATION MODULE?.
  10. Press YES. Scan tool will display INITIALIZING NEW MODULE. When completed, scan tool will display INITIALIZING NEW MODULE.
  11. Once complete, scan tool will display MODULE INITIALIZED.
  12. To complete procedure, go to next step.
  13. Select EXIT: GO TO SPECIAL FUNCTIONS MENU.
  14. Under SPECIAL FUNCTIONS menu, select SET OPTIONS.
  15. Under SET OPTIONS menu, make selection from the following as available:
    • AUTOMATIC/MANUAL HVAC OPTIONS. Follow scan tool instructions to select RPO option configuration.
    • HEADLAMP TYPE OPTION. Follow scan tool instructions to select headlight type option configuration.
    • LH DRIVER PERSONALIZATION. Follow scan tool instructions to select LH driver personalization option configuration.
    • MAGNA STEER OPTION. Follow scan tool instructions to select RPO option configuration.
    • MISCELLANEOUS OPTION #1. Follow scan tool instructions to select RPO option configuration.
    • MISCELLANEOUS OPTION #2. This option should be turned on.
    • PERSONALIZATION OPTION. Follow scan tool instructions to select RPO option configuration.
    • POINT OF SALE. Follow scan tool instructions to select point of sale.
    • RH DRVR PERSONALIZATION. Follow scan tool instructions to select RH driver personalization option configuration.
    • RIGHT HAND DRIVE. Follow scan tool instructions to select right hand drive option configuration.
    • UNIVERSAL THEFT DETERRENT. Follow scan tool instructions to select RPO option configuration.
    • EXIT. Go back to SPECIAL FUNCTIONS menu.
  16. Perform vehicle personalization to reset owner's desired personalization settings. See VEHICLE PERSONALIZATION and PROGRAMMING PERSONALIZATION FEATURES ON VEHICLES WITHOUT DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER, PROGRAMMING PERSONALIZATION FEATURES WITH DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER, or PROGRAMMING PERSONALIZATION FEATURES WITH SCAN TOOL under PROGRAMMING in appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article.
  17. Cycle ignition switch to OFF position then RUN position.
