Cruise Control System Diagnostic System Check
- Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located on lower left side of instrument panel, near steering column. If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, go to TEST A: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT POWER UP under SYSTEM TESTS.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, attempt to establish communication with the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) and Powertrain Control Module (PCM). If scan tool communicates with modules, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with modules, go to TEST B: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SYSTEM TESTS.
- If scan tool does not display any DTCs beginning with "U", go to next step. If scan tool displays any DTCs beginning with "U", go to TEST B: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SYSTEM TESTS.
- Using scan tool, select DISPLAY DTCs function for EBCM. If scan tool does not display any DTCs, go to next step. If scan tool displays any DTCs, perform appropriate test. See appropriate ANTI-LOCK article in BRAKES.
- Using scan tool, select DISPLAY DTCs function for PCM. If scan tool does not display any transaxle DTCs, go to next step. If scan tool displays any transaxle DTCs, perform appropriate test. See appropriate DIAGNOSIS article in AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS.
- Using scan tool, select DISPLAY DTCs function for PCM. If scan tool displays any DTCs, perform appropriate test. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . If scan tool does not display any DTCs, repair concern by symptom. See appropriate CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEMS article.
