Test A: All Power Windows Inoperative

  1. If DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK has been performed, go to next step. If DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK has not been performed, go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  2. Connect scan tool. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Attempt to operate power windows from Driver Door Switch Assembly (DDSA), and from each passenger window switch. If any power window operates in UP, DOWN and EXPRESS (front windows) position, repair by appropriate symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX  . If all switches are inoperative in UP, DOWN and EXPRESS (front windows) position, go to next step.
  3. Remove PWR WDO circuit breaker (30-amp) from the rear fuse block. Using a test light connected to ground, probe voltage supply terminal to PWR WDO circuit breaker. See Figure . See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  9 .
  4. With PWR WDO circuit breaker removed, connect test light between both PWR WDO circuit breaker terminals in rear fuse block. If test lamp illuminates, go to step  6 . If test light does not illuminate, go to next step.
  5. Operate any power window switch while observing test light. If test light illuminates, go to step  13 . If test light does not illuminate, go to step  8 .
  6. While observing test light, disconnect each door module one at a time. If test light goes out after any module is disconnected, go to next step. If test light does not go out after any module is disconnected, go to step  10 .
  7. Check suspect door module harness connector for poor connections. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair as necessary and go to step  14 . If connections are okay, go to step  11 .
  8. Check rear fuse block harness connector for poor connections. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair as necessary and go to step  14 . If connections are okay, go to step  12 .
  9. Repair open in voltage supply circuit to PWR WDO circuit breaker. See appropriate POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS. Go to step  14 .
  10. Repair short to ground in voltage supply circuit (Orange wire) between rear fuse block and appropriate door module (front door modules connector C3, or rear door modules connector C2). See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Go to step  14 .
  11. Replace suspect (disconnected) door module that is internally shorted to ground. See DOOR MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to step  14 .
  12. Replace rear fuse block and go to step  14 .
  13. Replace power window circuit breaker. See Figure . Go to next step.
  14. Operate system to verify repair. If condition still exists, go to step  2 . If condition no longer exists, system is okay.
