Body Control Module
NOTE:
Following procedure is written specifically for GM Tech 2 scan tool. A generic scan tool may not be capable of performing all necessary reprogramming functions. After performing BCM setup procedure, all personal settings must be reset. The air bag indicator light may remain ON after the BCM module is replaced, and during the programming procedure for the BCM, until after the procedure is completed and the ignition key is cycled OFF and ON.
- Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below left side of instrument panel, to right of steering column. See Figure . Turn ignition on. Select DIAGNOSTICS and input all required vehicle data when prompted by scan tool. Select BODY CONTROL MODULE. Select SPECIAL FUNCTIONS. Select NEW VIN and input all required data. Exit back to SPECIAL FUNCTIONS and select BCM REPROGRAMMING.
- When scan tool displays, DO YOU WANT TO SETUP A BODY CONTROL MODULE?, select SETUP BCM hot spot on scan tool. Scan tool will display NOW SETTING UP THE NEW BODY CONTROL MODULE. When BCM has been setup successfully, scan tool will display BODY CONTROL MODULE SETUP IS COMPLETE.
- Press EXIT to go to special functions menu. To complete the procedure, select set options from the special functions menu. Under the set options menu, the user selects the following: Point Of Sale, to continue with the procedure, follow the scan tool on screen instructions to select the point of sale. Load Management Option, to continue with the procedure, follow the scan tool on screen instructions to select the load management option. Press Exit to go back to special functions menu. Perform THEFT DETERRENT RELEARN .
