Remote Keyless Entry Transmitter Programming
CAUTION:
Once first Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter enters programming mode, all previous RKE transmitter codes are erased. All RKE transmitters must be reprogrammed.
If RKE transmitter is lost, all RKE transmitters must be reprogrammed. Programming of RKE transmitters requires GM Tech 2 scan tool or equivalent. RKE transmitters can not be programmed simultaneously. First RKE transmitter must be programmed completely before programming next RKE transmitter(s). A maximum of 4 RKE transmitters may be programmed into BCM memory.
- Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below left side of instrument panel, to right of steering column. See Figure .
- Turn ignition on.
- Using scan tool, select remote function actuation in special function: Program key fobs in order to place the remote control door lock receiver into program mode. The doors will lock and then unlock in order to confirm program mode.
- Press and hold the LOCK button and the UNLOCK button simultaneously on one transmitter. After a delay of 15 seconds, the doors will lock and unlock in order to confirm the programming of that transmitter.
- Repeat the previous step in order to program up to 4 transmitters.
- Remove the scan tool.
- Operate the transmitter functions in order to verify correct system operation.
- Disconnect scan tool from DLC.
- Verify system operation.
