Test G: Scan Tool Does Not Power Up

  1. Test Orange wire between RADIO, RFA, HVAC, CLUSTER, CEL TEL fuse (15-amp) located in instrument panel fuse block and Data Link Connector (DLC) terminal No. 16 for an open or short to ground. See Figure . If open or short to ground is not found, go to next step. If open or short to ground is found, repair as necessary. After repair, perform BODY CONTROL MODULE DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Test Black wire between DLC terminal No. 4 and ground point G201 for an open. Ground point G201 is located behind right side of glove box. If an open is not found, go to next step. If an open is found, repair as necessary. After repair, perform BODY CONTROL MODULE DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  3. Check for poor connections at DLC terminals No. 4 and No. 16. If poor connections are not found, go to next step. If for poor connections are found, repair as necessary. After repair, perform BODY CONTROL MODULE DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  4. Scan tool may be defective. Refer to scan tool operator's manual. Replace scan tool. After repair, perform BODY CONTROL MODULE DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
