Removal Procedure

  1. Using a scan tool, retrieve the percentage of remaining engine oil and automatic transaxle fluid life. Record the remaining engine oil and transaxle fluid life.
  2. Ensure that the ignition is in the OFF position.
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .

  5. Remove the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement .
  6. Disconnect the engine harness electrical connector from the mass air flow/intake air temperature (MAF/IAT) sensor.

  8. Remove the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) tube from the air cleaner outlet duct.

  10. Loosen the air cleaner outlet duct clamp at the throttle body.
  11. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct from the throttle body.

  13. Disengage the lower housing clips (1).
  14. Disengage the upper housing front tabs from the lower housing.
  15. Remove the air cleaner upper housing.

  17. Disengage the engine harness electrical connector lever locks at the PCM.
  18. Remove the engine harness electrical connectors from the PCM.
  19. Remove the PCM from the air cleaner lower housing.
