Battery Negative Cable Extension Cable Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.





2. Remove the battery negative extension cable fastener (1) and terminal (2) from the left front frame rail.





3. Remove the battery negative extension cable ground fastener (1) and remove the battery negative extension cable terminal (2).





4. Remove the battery negative extension cable (1) from the battery positive and negative cable conduit (2).

5. Remove the battery negative cable extension from the front engine compartment.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the battery negative extension cable (1) into the battery positive and negative cable conduit (2).





2. Install the battery positive cable terminal (2) and fastener (1) to the back of the generator. Tighten to 15 Nm (11 lb ft).





Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

3. Install the battery negative ground terminal (2) to the engine block and tighten the fastener (1) to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).





4. Install the battery negative extension cable terminal (2) and fastener (1) to the left front frame rail. Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
