Instrument Panel Inflatable Restraint Module Replacement

Preliminary Procedure: Disable the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
1 Instrument Panel Trim Plate
2 Instrument Panel Compartment Assembly
Tip:  Squeeze the inner compartment sides together in order to lower the door past the down stops.
3 Instrument Panel Compartment Accessory Hole Cover
4 Instrument Panel Inflatable Restraint Module Bolt (Qty: 2)
CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .

Tighten:  10 N.m (89 lb in)

5 Instrument Panel Inflatable Restraint Module

Procedure

  1. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) retainer.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  3. Fully deploy the module before disposal. If the module was replaced under warranty, fully deploy and dispose of the module after the required period. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Module Handling and Scrapping .
