Airbag Instrument Panel Module Replacement

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Remove the instrument panel assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement (Trax)Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement (Encore)
  3. Remove the instrument panel outer air outlet duct. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Duct Replacement (Trax)Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Duct Replacement (Encore)
1 Airbag Instrument Panel Module

Procedure

  1. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Module Handling and Scrapping .
  2. Insert a wood straight edge, one per side behind all locking tabs, to simultaneously release the instrument panel airbag housing from the instrument panel chute without overextending the airbag locking tabs. Use a wood straight edge that is approximately 50.8 cm (20 in) long and 5 mm (0.20 in) thick with a rounded edge.
  3. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
