Electronic Brake and Traction Control Module with Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Replacement

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Remove the battery tray. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement .
  2. Disconnect the brake fluid level sensor electrical connector.
  3. Without draining the coolant and without disconnecting the hoses, remove and position aside the radiator surge tank. Refer to Radiator Surge Tank Replacement .
1 Brake Pipe Fitting (Qty: 6)
CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .

Procedure

  1. Thoroughly clean the electronic brake control module (EBCM) to brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) area of any accumulated dirt and foreign material.
  2. Cap the brake pipe fittings and plug the BPMV ports to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

Tighten:  18 N.m(13 lb ft)

2 Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) Bracket Fastener (Qty: 3)

Tighten:  20 N.m(15 lb ft)

3 EBCM Electrical Connector
4 BPMV Bolt (Qty: 3)

Tighten:  10 N.m(88 lb in)

5 EBCM Bolt (Qty: 4)

Tighten:  3 N.m(26 lb in)

6 Electronic Brake Control Module

Procedure

  1. Carefully separate the EBCM from the BPMV, do not pry the components apart.
  2. Clean the sealing surface of the BPMV with denatured alcohol and a clean shop cloth and allow to dry.
  3. If installing a new EBCM, program the EBCM. Refer to Control Module References .
  4. Perform the Antilock Brake System Automated Bleed .
  5. Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle .
  6. Calibrate the brake pedal position sensor. Refer to Brake Pedal Position Sensor Calibration .
  7. Center the steering angle sensor. Refer to Steering Angle Sensor Centering .
