Remove Procedure
- Remove the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
- Unlock the retaining tab (2) on the battery fuse box cover.
- Open the battery fuse box flap (1).
- Unlock the retaining tab (3) and open the battery fuse box cover.
- Open the battery fuse box cover (1)
- Remove the battery positive to starter cable nut (2).
- Remove the battery positive to starter cable (3) from the battery.
- Remove the negative cable nut (1).
- Remove the negative cable (2).
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- If equipped, remove the front compartment splash shield. Refer to Front Compartment Insulator Replacement .
- Remove the starter and generator positive cable nut (2) and the starter and generator positive cable (3).
- Remove the starter nut (6) and the starter ground cable (5).
- Unclip the starter and generator positive cable clip (1) from oil level indicator tube.
- Unclip the 2 starter and generator positive cable retainers (4) from the transmission brackets.
- Fold the generator cap (3) aside.
- Remove the starter and generator positive cable retaining nut (2) and the starter and generator positive cable (1).
- Remove the starter and generator positive cable from the vehicle.
NOTE:
Pull the battery fuse box housing. DO NOT pull the flap.
