Removal Procedure

WARNING:

Refer to Exhaust Service Warning .

WARNING:

Refer to Hot Exhaust System Warning .

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the underbody brace - front. Refer to Underbody Brace Replacement - Front .
  3. Remove the underbody brace - middle X-rod. Refer to Underbody Brace Replacement - Middle X-Rod .
  4. Remove the underbody brace - rear V-rod. Refer to Underbody Brace Replacement - Rear V-Rod .
  5. Remove the exhaust rear auxiliary muffler. Refer to Exhaust Rear Auxiliary Muffler Replacement .
  6. Remove the exhaust rear muffler. Refer to Exhaust Rear Muffler Replacement ,
  7. Remove the exhaust muffler. Refer to Exhaust Muffler Replacement .

  9. Support the exhaust front pipe.
  10. Remove and DISCARD the 2 drivetrain and front suspension frame support bolts (5).
  11. Remove the 2 exhaust pipe front hanger bracket bolts (4).
  12. Remove the 2 exhaust pipe front hanger bracket insulator nuts (3).
  13. Remove the exhaust pipe front hanger bracket (2).
  14. Remove the 2 exhaust pipe front hanger bracket insulators (1).

    NOTE:

    A second technician is required.

  16. Remove the heated oxygen sensor (1).
  17. Remove and DISCARD 3 catalytic converter to exhaust pipe nuts (3).
  18. Remove the exhaust front pipe (2) from the catalytic converter.
  19. Remove the catalytic converter to exhaust to exhaust pipe gasket (4).
  20. Remove the exhaust system.
