Installation Procedure
- Install the valve lifter follower (1) with NEW engine oil.
- Install the fuel pump (3) along with the NEW seal ring (2) and the NEW gasket (1).
- Add thread-locking compound to the fuel pump fastener threads prior to installing.
- Install the 2 fuel pump bolts (4) and tighten to:
- First pass: 8 N.m (71 lb in)
- Final pass: 50 degrees
- Install the fuel feed intermediate pipe. Refer to Fuel Feed Intermediate Pipe Replacement .
- Install the fuel pump insulator (1).
- Install the fuel pump cover nut (1) and the 2 fuel pump cover bolts (2) and tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
- Clip in the wiring harness to the fuel pump cover.
- Install the fuel feed pipe to the fuel pump. Refer to Fuel Feed Pipe Replacement - Engine .
- Install the charge air cooler inlet pipe - turbocharger. Refer to Charge Air Cooler Inlet Hose Replacement (Charge Air Cooler)Charge Air Cooler Inlet Hose Replacement (Turbocharger) .

Refer to Fastener Caution .
NOTE:
Use blue Loctite™.
CAUTION:
Alternately hand-tighten the fuel pump bolts one turn at a time until the pump is fully seated. Trying to draw down the pump without even side-to-side tightening may result in pump plunger damage.
