Removal Procedure

  1. Position the vehicle on the level ground and move the front wheels to the straight-ahead position.
  2. Battery Negative Cable - Disconnect - Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  3. Plenum Water Deflector- Center - Remove - Plenum Water Deflector Replacement - Center
  4. Plenum Water Deflector-Left Side - Remove - Plenum Water Deflector Replacement - Left Side
  5. Windshield Side Garnish Molding - Remove[2x] - Windshield Side Garnish Molding Replacement
  6. Windshield Side Reveal Molding - Remove[2x] - Windshield Side Reveal Molding Replacement 
  7. Windshield Header Finish Upper Molding - Remove - Windshield Header Finish Upper Molding Replacement 
  8. Inside Rearview Mirror - Remove - Inside Rearview Mirror Replacement
  9. { If equipped }Front View Camera - Remove - Front View Camera Replacement
  10. Windshield Outside Moisture Sensor - Remove - Windshield Outside Moisture Sensor Replacement
  11. Radio Antenna Base - Remove - Radio Antenna Base Replacement
  12. Cover the following parts to protect from broken glass:
    • Upper dash pad
    • Defroster outlets and A/C outlets
    • Seats and carpeting

    NOTE:

    If the original window is being reused the window lace is not serviceable.

    Using the appropriate tool, carefully cut around the lace (1), start in the center working from side to side of the windshield to access the urethane adhesive bead.

    NOTE:

    Use care when removing the window not to cut off the locator pins on the left and right sides. If the locating pins are cut off it will be necessary to use masking tape to tape the window in place until the auto-adhesive cures.

    NOTE:

    Keep the cutting edge of the tool against the window.

    Remove the window from the urethane adhesive.

    • Leave a base of urethane approximately 2 mm (0.078 in) on the pinch-weld flange.
    • The only suitable lubrication is clear water.
    • BO-24402-A  remover.
    • BO-39032  removal tool, or equivalent in order to remove the window.

    NOTE:

    Keep the cutting edge of the appropriate tool against the window. Do this from inside the vehicle.

    If necessary, use the appropriate tool to remove the bottom corners of the windshield from the urethane adhesive.

  16. GM379903

    Remove the windshield from the vehicle with an assistant.

  17. GM2027901

    Cut out the adhesive tape with the knife provided (1) to within 1 mm (0.039 in).

  18. Repair any paint damage.

    Using a touch-up pen to match the color of the vehicle, repair any paint damage.

  19. Cut off the adhesive bead on the glass pane

    Cut out the adhesive tape with the knife provided (1) to within 1 mm (0.039 in).
