Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2017 GMC Acadia Limited, 2017 Chevrolet Traverse, and 2017 Buick Enclave. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

  1. Position the front lower control arm (1) on the vehicle.

  3. Install the front lower control arm rear bolt (1) and front lower control arm rear nut (2).

    Only hand tighten the fasteners at this time.

  4. NOTE:
    • Ensure there are NO gaps in the threadlocker along the length of the filled area of the front lower control arm front stud threads.
    • Allow the threadlocker to cure for approximately 10 minutes before installation of the front lower control arm front nut.
  5. Apply GM specified threadlocker, or an industry equivalent, to the front lower control arm front stud threads (3). Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers 
  6. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  7. Install the front lower control arm front nut (4) and tighten to 195 N.m (144 lb ft).
  8. Tighten the front lower control arm rear nut (2) to 150 N.m (111 lb ft).
  9. Connect the front lower control arm to the steering knuckle.

  11. Install the front lower control arm ball stud nut (1) and tighten to:

    Tighten

    1. First Pass: 50 N.m (37 lb ft)
    2. Final Pass: (60 - 80 degrees)
  12. Install Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod at Steering Knuckle - Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement
  13. Install the front tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
